My latest novel is Soft Target: The AirTerror in America's skies. After 9/11, U.S. airlines were grounded for three days. Three days and America felt ominous economic chest pains. Imagine the airline industry shut down indefinitely.First in a four-novel series under the Soft Target mantra, The Air details an attack on America's aviation industry. A lone terrorist has discovered a way to threaten passenger aircraft. Very real, very sinister and very possible. Three major airports. Three planes crash on takeoff and no one knows why. Mechanical defect, pilot error or homeland terrorism? The U.S. Government is powerless to stop the threat. Do we ground America's airlines again? You're the president. Decide. A Special Treat for Mystery LoversSpeaking of a totally new thriller vein, let's change the letters. V-a-i-n. As in You're So Vain. One of my Soft Target characters has a passionate hobby and while researching that hobby I stumbled upon something completely unrelated to the novel's aviation terror plot. Something that's guaranteed to pique the media's entertainment interest, and hopefully yours. The true identity of the mystery person in Carly Simon's 1973 hit song, You're So Vain. Now don't smirk. I realize that's a bold statement, especially after 33+ years, but I found stunning new evidence that points to a single heretofore unsuspected individual and I'm quite certain that I'm right. It's a great marketing coup for Dan River Press and one that they and I will exploit in the novel's pre-release buzz. The evidence is so fascinating and so obvious I'm surprised no one has ever given this guy the attention he deserved. Trust me; it's him. With due respect to Mr. Woodward's Deep Throat, America's last secret identity mystery might be solved! I hope you enjoy the revelation. |
