My first novel, Target Acquired (Leisure Books) helped launch Dorchester Publishing's new thriller line in October, 2003. A small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) sneaks around Washington, DC and trespasses into some sensitive airspace, including the White House Complex. During the research, I was given special permission to walk the rooftop of Camden Yards Stadium and I actually had a private security escort at Andrews Air Force Base. I could go anywhere I wanted except the hex-a-hangar where they keep Air Force One.

My second novel, Soft Target: The Air (Dan River Press) features another small flying machine called an Entomopter, and yes, some bad people get hold of a few and do some bad things. Prof. Robert C. Michelson, Principal Research Engineer, Emeritus of the Georgia Tech Research Institute actually invented the Entomopter and graciously allowed me to use him as a technical reference. He and his Entomopter appear on the back cover. See more of the Entomopter by following this link: Entomopter Project
My secret to writing thriller novels is simple: Pick a heretofore untouchable theme or target, interview the experts, and keep asking 'what if?'
My third novel, Soft Target: The Earth will describe a nearly unstoppable attack on America's cattle (beef) industry. Fifteen pounds of beef jerky laced with the BSE prion (mad cow disease) arrive in the U.S. With apologies to American pioneer John Chapman, my Soft Target series antagonist becomes a modern-day Johnny Appleseed and spreads it everywhere. Also very sinister and very scary.
Number four is, Soft Target: The Water followed by Soft Target: The Fire. All focus on America's terror vulnerability. The world's technology is improving and unfortunately, so is the skill of our enemies. I hope and pray my books stay fiction. If nothing else, they'll certainly raise awareness, and that's a good thing.
